[文摘]:The use of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) absorption spectroscopy to obtain species and temperature profiles within solid-propellants flames is described in this paper. Measurements were performed at a spectral resolution of 4 cm(exp -1) and a spatial resolution of 1 mm within the flame-zone of two nitramine composite propellants. A nonlinear, least-squares routine fitted the experimentally acquired absorption spectra to theoretical spectra which yielded a prediction of the absolute species concentrations of CO, NO, H20 and CO2 as well as the rotational temperature. Line-of-sight deduced temperature profiles for XM39 and M43 propellants showed dark-zone/luminous flame-zone structures for both propellants. The mole fraction of CO increased while the mole fraction of NO decreased from the beginning of the dark-zone to the luminous flame zone. Data on the spatial variation of species concentration and temperature within the flame zone are important for the development and validation of chemical kinetic mechanisms of these solid propellants. [标题]:Graphical-based construction of combinatorial geometries for radiation transport and shielding applications

[文摘]:A graphical-based code system is being developed at ORNL to manipulate combinatorial geometries for radiation transport and shielding applications. The current version (basically a combinatorial geometry debugger) consists of two parts: a FORTRAN-based 'view' generator and a Microsoft Windows application for displaying the geometry. Options and features of both modules are discussed. Examples illustrating the various options available are presented. The potential for utilizing the images produced using the debugger as a visualization tool for the output of the radiation transport codes is discussed as is the future direction of the development.
